The National Vehicle Service Register works for everyone, it doesn't matter if you're a vehicle owner, workshop, paint shop, auto electrician, or a potential buyer - using the N.V.S.R will benefit you.
All you do is choose a Participating Workshop when servicing your vehicle and the rest is done automatically.
Buying a used vehicle (car, boat, motorcycle,truck, bus) can lead to trouble if you're not certain of its condition. A vehicle can be cleaned and touched up to make it appear perfect on the outside but it's what's on the inside that really counts. By "inside" we don't mean the interior, we mean the engine, drive train, and other mechanical components. How do you know if the odometer has been wound back or not? We store kilometres so you can compare current distance traveled with past services. Every item on the Servicing Invoice is listed, for example; Oil Change, Timing Belts, Uni-Joints, CV-Joints, and more. Whatever work was carried out and parts used will be itemised and available online - with no personal information. You cannot identify a vehicle owner from any of the information available on the N.V.S.R.
When you are considering purchasing a used car you should always do these three things;
1) Check it has a service history,
2) Do a REVS check to make sure there is no money owing on it.
3) If the vehicle has log books, compare the V.I.N in the book with the one on the car - do they match?
As a vehicle owner you don't need to do anything, just choose a Participating Workshop or Motor Vehicle Dealer when you next get your vehicle serviced and your records will be automatically included. Any historical records relating to your vehicle will also be uploaded so past information will be online as well. You benefit enormously from using a Participating Workshop because your records will be consistent, you don't have to worry if you lose or have lost your logbooks. More importantly, your vehicles trade-in or resale value will be maintained because Dealers & private buyers will pay more for a vehicle which has a good service history. It's going to take a long time to get all service histories online but over the next few years doing an N.V.S.R Report will become as common as performing a R.E.V.S check is now. You'd be mad not to get involved now.
After joining the N.V.S.R family you really don't need to do anything to make it work for you. Your existing Invoicing Software should support us and be able to provide the information we need. If it can't then talk to your Software Provider and ask them why! By being a Participating Workshop you earn extra money based on how many invoices you do, so there is no reason why you wouldn't want to become a member of our family.
Just agree to our Terms & Conditions, which basically say you must be totally honest and reliable with the information you provide and that the work you carry out will be of a high standard. If you're ready to join the N.V.S.R family - click here.
Ultimately the vehicle owner pays for the National Vehicle Service Register at the time their car, motorcycle, truck, or bus visits a Participating Workshop. A small fee of up to $4.95 is added to your invoice so that the workshop can recover their cost of participation. We feel that $4.95 is not a lot of money when you consider that your vehicle is likely to be in a workshop once or twice a year and you benefit so much in the long run. You can choose not to have your vehicle included in the N.V.S.R but it isn't in your best interests to abstain. When it's time to sell or trade-in it will be more valuable with a verifiable service history. Would you buy a used vehicle which couldn't have it's history verified. Sure, you can say "it's been well serviced and maintained" but from the buyers point of view they need more proof than just your word.
Formally known as R.E.V.S Check you can determine if money is owing on a Vehicle before purchasing.
Would you like to become a Participating Workshop and enjoy the benefits of being a member of the N.V.S.R family
If you develop Workshop Invoicing software we would be happy for you to include support for the N.V.S.R.
